Commente par Bob57 (9) le Seul film de fiction avec HOW THE WEST WAS WON a avoir été tourné en véritable CINERAMA (l'ancêtre du format IMAX pour faire court), le film vient tout juste de bénéficier d'une très couteuse restauration 6K par Warner Bros, alors que beaucoup de spécialistes pensaient toute restauration impossible à cause de dégâts irréversibles sur les négatifs. Après deux ans de travail et plusieurs millions de dollars de budget pour la restauration, le film sort fin mars 2022 en version intégrale dans un superbe blu-ray collector Warner Archive Collection (uniquement aux USA pour le moment, mais le blu-ray est multizones).

Le film est réalisé par John Lee Hancock (Un Monde Parfait et Minuit dans le jardin du bien et du mal comme scénariste pour Clint Eastwood et dernièrement Une Affaire de détails - 2021 - comme réalisateur). Beaucoup plus politique que la version de John Wayne sortie en 1960, ce film fût un terrible échec commercial en 2004 (à peine 25,8 millions de $ au box office pour un budget de plus de 107 millions !!). Raison de plus pour (re)découvrir cet excellent film. Ma note : 8/10.

Attention 22 JULY (LE 22 JUILLET) est un chef d'oeuvre dans la même veine que l'autre grand film de Paul Greengrass UNITED 93 sur le 11 Septembre 2001. Même style documentaire pris sur le vif, même refus d'aller dans le racolage émotionnel que le sujet pouvait amener. Les acteurs plus vrais et naturels que n'importe quelle star sont parfaits. Je vous recommande sans hésiter ce film.

Le Bazaar de l'épouvante
Commente par Bob57 (9) le Adaptation d'un roman de Stephen King (BAZAAR, Albin Michel, 1992), ce film est un peu tombé dans l'oubli depuis sa sortie en salles en 1993... Pour preuve, il n'existe à ce jour sur le marché français qu'un horrible dvd au format 4/3 sorti il y a plus de 10 ans et aucun blu-ray En ce qui me concerne je trouve que ce film fait parti des meilleures adaptations de King à l'écran. Excellente mise en scène de Fraser C. Heston (fils de Charlon Heston) et excellent casting : Ed Harris, Max von Sydow, Bonnie Bedelia. A écouvrir (ou redécouvrir) de toute urgence !
